Hi, my name is Bogdan, and now I’m going to show you how to change the belt clip on your Smith Blade Lite.
For this, you’ll need a T8 precision screwdriver. The Smith Blade Lite ships with the belt clip in the top position. If you’d like to move it to the rear, follow these steps.
Start by removing the clip from the top position by rotating the screws counterclockwise. The Smith Blade Lite ships with an extra set of screws in the rear for rear clip mounting. The screws from the front can be reinstalled so they don’t get lost.
Once the front screws are reinstalled, remove the screws in the rear to install the belt clip. It’s important to note that the two screws in the back of the Smith Blade Lite are different lengths. The longer screw must be installed in the far rear position because it threads into the standoff or lanyard loop.
To reinstall the belt clip, position it on the rear side. Start with the longer screw in the rear position, followed by the shorter screw in the front position. Do not fully tighten the screws at first. Straighten the clip, make sure both screws are threaded properly, then tighten them using two-finger torque.
And that’s how you move the clip to the rear position. Next, we’ll install the deep carry pocket clip.
The deep carry pocket clip for the Smith Blade Lite comes with two different screw lengths — one long and one short — and both are countersunk specifically for the clip. Use the longer screw in the rear hole closest to the back edge, and the shorter screw in the second hole.
Before tightening, make sure the clip is straight across the back of the Smith Blade. Then tighten using two fingers.
If you plan on removing a rear-mounted pocket clip, it’s very important to reinstall the original long button-head screw that came with your Smith Blade into the rear position, as this screw helps hold the two halves of the Smith Blade together. It’s also recommended to reinstall the shorter screw so it doesn’t get lost.
If you plan on installing the deep carry pocket clip on the front of your Smith Blade Lite, only use the two short screws. Do not use a long screw, as it will interfere with the blade.
As always, two fingers is all you need to properly tension these screws.
And there you go — that’s all it takes to install the deep carry pocket clip onto your Smith Blade Lite. If you’d like to learn more about your Smith Blade, make sure to check out our other tutorials.
